OMEMs are implemented in portable electronic devices and RFID tags for storage of individualized data (low storage capacity/density).

• Most OMEMs feature bi-stable current/voltage characteristics, i.e. the device may be switched between low/high conductance states
• State of the art ON/OFF ratios > 10⁴
• ON/OFF ratios  up to  12 000
• Systematic control of open/closed isomer ratio
• Increased storage density (up to 20 levels as proof of concept)
• Possibility for 300 (1500) grey levels by electrical (optical) programming
